Performance, Resilience, Support - the support group for Headteachers in Devon

When I was a headteacher in Devon, I often felt isolated and left alone to manage complex problems:
- Managing difficult parental complaints, which sometimes felt very personal
- Navigating improving a colleague’s performance, when we also had a long-standing friendship
- Managing a pupil's significant SEND needs, that were impacting on staff morale, with very little external support
- Dealing with a controversial building development right next to the school (and all the parental and governor concerns that came with it)
These were the moments when I lay awake at night, not sure who I could turn to.
Some of you will have brilliant support around you, especially if you're operating in a group of schools. However, there are some things you can’t take to governors, or your exec head, or your line manager.
The conflict of interest is too great.
Or you feel too vulnerable and raw.
And colleagues at school are often too close.
That’s why a confidential support group is so powerful.
With Performance, Resilience & Support (PRS), headteachers come together in small groups to learn new strategies, share honestly, problem-solve, and support one another, away from hierarchy, accountability, or judgement.
