First Devon Women's Leadership Network Brunch Events

Wow! 

I’m blown away by the first Devon Women’s Leadership Network brunch events!

When I first thought of this idea, I had hoped to facilitate meetings between women leaders who could inspire and support me, and one another, to lead with integrity and excellence.

And we achieved that in bucketloads during these first two events 😊

The collective experience of women in leadership positions in the room was phenomenal, and included:

✔️ the public sector, 

✔️ corporate,

✔️ third sector, 

✔️ founders 

✔️ and leaders from small businesses. 

There was such a genuine connection between the experiences and viewpoints of the women.  

The discussions were deep and fascinating and included

🤔 The complexity and ‘mental load’ of being a woman leader, as well as being a mother, wife, or daughter.

🤔 We explored whether women lead inherently differently from male leaders, or whether women feel that they have to lead in a way modelled traditionally by male leaders.

🤔 We also considered how we prepare girls and young women to excel in life and leadership, and how we help boys and young men find a positive alternative to the current trends in toxic masculinity, so that they can live and excel with equality in mind.

We met in inspiring, women-friendly venues, and enjoyed delicious brunches together whilst putting the world to rights on all things leadership.

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?

🔶 We decided that to really establish ourselves, we need to meet regularly, at least monthly.

🔶 We want to include all women leaders, including aspiring leaders, and young women who would like to be mentored and empowered to lead.

🔶 We want to be inclusive and would invite male allies, or any person who identifies as a woman to join us.

🔶 We want to celebrate each other’s successes, but also to share each other’s challenges, and to offer support and encouragement.

🔶 We want to empower each other to achieve our dreams.

🔶 We want to learn from each other and also invite inspirational women to speak to us.

🔶 We want to make a positive difference to women’s working lives, in whichever ways we can.
